I got to express some of my thoughts with a friend of mine today. It's about what I think about a lot. It's called the human condition. I described it as how we think, what we think about, and why we do the things we do. For example why do people believe the things they do? For one I can say that it was probably handed down to them by their parents, which is not necessarily a bad thing but when you come to realize you're only doing something and you don't even really believe in it then the situation becomes tough, but when the human race is presented with change. A lot of people seem to want change but deep down don't really want to do what it takes to change. And another thing to think about is that if one is constantly changing then he or she is seen as unstable and wishy washy. Think of change more as a growing process, like the human body growing up to adulthood or a seed growing into a tree. The thing looks like what it started as but it's not quite the same. You can apply this way to a person. You should always base what you do on what you have been taught but be willing to adjust and modify as necessary. This can be called the pursuit of the truth, which i believe is a hard one.

I apreciate your thoughts here. There is a lot of truth to what you say. I do, however, know someone who is such a people pleaser that she will do anything the person she is with wants her to do. She will won't stand up for anything alone. She is so afraid of how someone might respond if she disagrees that she never does. I can have reall heart to hearts with her and help her understand what she needs to do in order to stand for christ in these hard times. In those moments I feel like she is really desiring to do what it takes to make the change or at least try. A week later, I find that I was mistaken. Perhaps in those times she is just afraid of what I will say unless she agrees. :S It is frustrating. But I do know that there are people who at least try to make the changes as best as they know how, and this is a part of the spiritual grownth process, like you said. I admire those who keep getting up when they fall continually. They are the ones that have a greater faith than I because having faith is harder for them in those times than it ever was for me, I was raised with it. Anyway, thanks again for your blog and sharing with your friends. I have one on my facebook if you didn't know, and i think people can view it if they want too. I apreciate you and your boldness in stepping out and saying what is on your heart and how you feel on spiritual matters. Take care.

If we know who we are, we will know what we stand for. As professor Gupton explains, we will know which hills we would die on, and the only thing we may have to figure out is how to take the hills. Taking the hills is not an option then, but only how to. And any change we accept or desire for ourselves should be in accordance with who we are. If we allow something to change us beyond who we are, then perhaps we should reconsider our identities to start with.
